MY THOUGHTS

This is the first book from Airicka Phoenix that I’ve read and oh my goodness, she blew me away!! I absolutely LOVED this book!! Not having read the first 3 in the series before this one, I was a bit worried that I would have some catching up to do, but no…I didn’t fall behind once. I was introduced to the characters and did not feel like I was missing anything from not reading the other books before this one. I mean, there were a few things like, how Calla and Jared got together. I WANT to read the book that has that in it, but did I have to read it so I didn’t get lost?? No. On to this book though!

So, since I was able to read this as a stand-alone, I was introduced to all the characters for the first time. I fell in love with the entire family!! There is a bit of a quirky, twisty-turny thing in the family dynamics about parentage. Despite that issue though, they are such a loving and wonderful bunch. I seriously miss them, and it’s only been a couple days since I finished reading the book! Ms. Phoenix really did a wonderful job of creating this entire family and small town atmosphere.

The only downside for me, was Willa is sometimes a bit TOO sensitive for my tastes. She is a very sensitive person who, even admits herself, has no spine….I mean NOOO spine. The slightest thing, even a perceived issue, will make her get worked up into an anxiety attack. I don’t know if there is some back story there that I don’t have since I haven’t read the other books yet, but I didn’t see a mention of anything in this one. Thankfully she has hunky Damon to be strong for her though! Anyway, taken Willa’s wimpiness into account, this definitely gets 4.5 STARS from me!! I can tell that I will be re-reading this book, and the rest of the series (since I bought it all while it’s on sale) many times over!! Good job Airicka Phoenix.
